Adult Workshops
A writer is an artist painting scenes with words. One is never too young or to old to discover the writer within. Anyone can write and everyone has something to say. Words in Play workshops inspire you to tap into your creative spirit, awaken your powers of observation and recollection and find your voice.

"The workshop inspired me to get to work on my book, and I've now completed over 60 pages!"

-Joan Chandler, Participant

The interactive workshop environment encourages participants to provide and receive quality feedback which is a most important skill, not only for writing but for life.

Adult Workshops run throughout the year in six week blocks. Groups of six meet weekly to explore and discover the myriad pleasures (and sometimes trials) of putting pen to paper. The workshop format includes writing exercises, lessons on craft and critiques of student work.

The groups are often an eclectic mix of ages, abilities and styles - different voices come together to share and learn from each other. That is the wonder of it.

"Deb's enthusiasm for the workshop was contagious. She encouraged each of us to try new approaches to the creative writing and thinking process."

-Roberta Stoneman, Participant

"Under Deb's guidance, the workshops provide a wealth of inspiration and revelation. The opportunity to explore and share the writer's craft in a relaxed, yet safe haven quickly fosters a bond of camaraderie within the group. This magical combination encourages and nurtures the emergence of even the most inhibited literary voice."

-Joan Rodewald, Participant
